What is a Gatekeeper?

Sometimes when we use this term people that have watched the movie Ghost Busters think we are referring to a character in that movie.... Umm.... No. This term was adopted many years ago in our youth ministry.

Gatekeepers

It comes from:

Psalms 24:7
7Lift up your heads, O you gates!
And be lifted up, you everlasting doors!
And the King of glory shall come in.

Simply put, a Gatekeeper is one who spiritually opens the way for God to move anywhere He is invited. God is so passionate for us that He would allow us to ask Him to move and He will. Gatekeepers are people that take God seriously and do what is needed to serve others. A Gatekeeper is someone who decides to live a life set apart for God. A Gatekeeper takes responsibility not only for his/her own life, but also for the lives of others.

As you can see, this is a very important role in 212. We don't take it lightly. If you would like to get involved, be prepared. Not everyone who signs up makes it. But for those who do, it lasts a lifetime.

There are two Phases in our Gatekeeper process. By completing the 1st Phase a student can serve just about any where in 212. If a student desires they can start the 2nd Phase which helps a student learn how to live a life set apart for God.... Gatekeeper.
